What Do I Say? Write Difficult Emails with AI

Can’t find the words? You don’t even have to type them.

Some emails are hard to start. You know what you mean, but finding the words — especially when things feel awkward — can be a bit much.

This gentle course helps you work with ChatGPT to turn your thoughts into a clear email, then check the words and make them your own. No perfect first draft required.

The 37 minutes is the video watching time. The workbook exercises are entirely optional — take as much time with them as you choose.

Watch at your pace

Around 37 minutes of narrated video across 5 short lessons. Take a pause whenever you need one.

Make space to practise

5 printable module workbooks to accompany the course, so you can work through your own thoughts as you go.

Keep a toolkit handy

A downloadable 4-page Email Toolkit with 5 ready-to-adapt prompts, a reusable planning worksheet and a pre-send checklist.

This is for you if…

  • You put off an email because you’re not sure how to begin
  • You want to be kind and clear, even when the message is difficult
  • You’re new to ChatGPT and would welcome a gentle start
  • You’d rather talk your thoughts through than type them, where ChatGPT voice is available

What you'll explore

  1. Step 1

    Get comfortable, keep things private

A gentle welcome to working with ChatGPT, with care around personal details and what you choose to share.

  2. Step 2

    Untangle your thoughts

Turn messy thoughts into a clearer email. Start with what you mean, rather than worrying about perfect words.

  3. Step 3

    Kind requests and clear boundaries

Practise saying no, setting boundaries and making requests kindly, without losing the point you need to make.

  4. Step 4

    Reply calmly, check carefully

Work through complaints and awkward emails. Check the tone, the facts and whether the words still sound like you.

  5. Step 5

    Bring it all together

Use the Email Toolkit and practise a repeatable approach you can come back to for your next difficult email.

Type it, or talk it through

You can type your thoughts into ChatGPT or use ChatGPT’s voice conversation feature, where available. Voice is entirely optional — it’s part of ChatGPT, not a voice-chat feature inside this course.

Talking things through may suit people who find writing harder, including some dyslexic learners and people using English as an additional language. Everyone’s needs are different; this isn’t a promise of accessibility or a particular result.

For the emails you’d rather not write

The four-page Email Toolkit brings together five ChatGPT prompts you can adapt to your situation:

  • Awkward ask
  • Difficult reply
  • Apology
  • Bad news
  • Follow-up chase

Use the planning worksheet to work out what matters, then the pre-send checklist to give your email a final careful read. The toolkit is part of the course materials; there’s no public download here.

Still your words. Still your choice.

ChatGPT can help with a draft, but it can misunderstand or get things wrong. Keep private details out, check names and facts, and decide whether the tone feels right before you send anything.

This is everyday writing support, not legal advice or a substitute for professional help with sensitive situations.

Not a magic “send” button

This course is for practising a thoughtful approach, not automatically sending emails or guaranteeing the reply you want. You stay in charge of what you share and what you send.

A few fair questions

Do I have to use voice?

Not at all. Typing is fine. If ChatGPT’s voice conversation feature is available to you, you can choose to talk your thoughts through instead.

Do I need to be good at writing already?

No polished starting point is needed. The course begins with getting comfortable and turning messy thoughts into something clearer, one step at a time.

Is this a subscription?

No. The approved course prices are one-time payments. Any ChatGPT account or feature requirements are separate from the course price; check availability in ChatGPT.

Can I enrol or download the toolkit now?

Not yet. The course is completed and checkout links are prepared, but enrolment will open only after delivery has been tested. Access instructions will be confirmed before launch. No payment or toolkit download is available on this page.

Got a question first?

Totally fair. Ask away — there's no such thing as a silly question here.
